About the Author
Scott Reed graduated from the University of Southern California and received a Bachelors Degree in Music Performance with a major in Studio Guitar. He is a two-time recipient of a music fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts and has taught applied guitar for Governors State University. In addition to doing studio work he has played countless shows and concerts throughout the United States. He is the author of� "Getting Into Guitar Improvising", "Getting Into Guitar Styles", and "Expanding Your Soloing" from Mel Bay Publications.

good read

good book very organized lay out straight forward and easy to read, but a tough read if your not caught up on your theory.. I would not recomend this book to someone that doesnt know what modes are. Otherwise it is a pretty decent book

This book not only explains the relationship between scales and chords but shows the application through musical examples. Important concepts are introduced and diagrams are included for visualizing shapes on the fingerboard. A must have reference !

It has the necessary tools to start improvising: pentatonics, major scales, the modes, arpeggios, chord scales. Lots of info and good exercises. Recommended.
