An excellent reference for what you get, but limited in scope

The Junkers Ju 88 is one of the iconic aircraft of World War II, seeing action on every front from the sense of North Africa to the northernmost part of Europe, and from the Atlantic frontier in the West to the Ural Mountains in the east.
Maciej Noszczak's slim volume of drawings in 1/72 scale focuses on the Ju 88A-1 through A-17 variants. The book consists of a one page summary divided down the middle with English on the left side, Polish on the right, followed by 15 pages of drawings, and four pages of color profile renderings of A-4 trop and A-5 aircraft operating in the Mediterranean theater of action during 1943. The drawings and color renderings are very well done and include surface rivet detail and other indicators that the draftsman has really done his homework.
Along with the drawings inside the printed booklet are separate printed sheets that reproduce the books drawings in 1/72 (A-1; A-4; A-5; A-6; A-14; A-17), 1/48 (A-4), and 1/32 scale (A-1; A-4).
Finally, there is a superlative set of Cartograf decals in all three scales that allow modelers to make accurately rendered scale models of the aircraft depicted in the color profiles.
My take on the work viewed as a whole would be that it is very good for what there is. The quality of the drawings get top marks (A +). The Cartograf decals also get an A+. The rest of the book, not so much.
The title of the book, Junkers Ju 88 bomber variants, would seem to indicate that readers could expect to see discussions of Ju 88 bomber variants covering the full spectrum of dedicated bomber aircraft, but which were unaccountably omitted from inclusion in this volume. These would include the Ju 88S-1 (BMW 801D radial engines, ventral gondola replaced by smaller aerodynamic body into which the aircraft bomb site was mounted, streamlined nosecone, rearward firing defensive armament upgraded to MG 131 (12.7 mm) machine gun, dive brakes removed, radio altimeter, IIF, and electronic countermeasures installed); Ju 88 S-2 (similar to S-1 but with large wooden streamlined bomb container installed below lower fuselage); Ju 88S-3 (similar to S-1, but with Junkers Jumo 213 in-line, liquid cooled engines, and wooden, paddle-bladed VS 111 propellers). These aircraft played a significant role in Operation Steinbock,the Luftwaffe's ultimately unsuccessful bombing campaign against British cities and towns, the so-called 'baby blitz' that lasted from January through May 1944.
There were also limited production versions of the Ju 88 fitted with extended fuselages fore and aft of the wings, the H-1 and H-2 variants, that were equipped with maritime search radars allowing the aircraft to seek out and attack Allied shipping far out over the Atlantic Ocean, well beyond the range of most other land-based patrol aircraft.
For modelers looking to build something different from the usual, run-of-the-mill Ju 88A-4 model kits, this book may be somewhat disappointing.
These omissions do not necessarily detract from the overall value of this book. What you get is still very good, but you'll have to look elsewhere for the information that the publisher chose not to include.

This book together with the two books from the Classic Publication series, Junkers Ju 88 Volume One - From Schnellbomber to Multi-Mission Warplane & Volume Two - The Bomber at War, provide a most comprehensive description of the aircraft. There are plans in 1/72, 1/48, and 1/32 scales of both the Ju 88A-1 and A-4 variants. There is a also a decal sheet in each of the scales for representative aircraft found in the book's profiles. This book gives one the best value on the Ju 88 yet to be published.

If you are looking for quality scale drawings of the Junkers Ju 88, high quality Cartograf decals in three scales (1/72, 1/48 & 1/32), and some fantastic artwork, this book / decals set is great value for the money. Buy with confidence.
